The Detroit Tigers entered the 2026 with high expectations, since starting the year 2-0 against the Padres, they have fallen to 4-9 and are coming off getting swept in a 4 game series against the Twins. Detroit will look to build some consistency in this series against the 8-5 Florida Marlins.

Series Projected Starters

Friday: Keider Montero (0-1, 4.15 ERA) vs Chris Paddack (0-1, 8.31 ERA)

Saturday: Casey Mize (0-1, 5.23 ERA) vs Jayson Junk (0-1, 3.09 ERA)

Sunday: Tarik Skubal (1-2, 2.55 ERA) vs Sandy Alcantara (2-0, .74 ERA)

It has been a slow start offensively for Tigers core returners Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and aside from 2 home runs, Kerry Carpenter. Detroit will face 3 more right handed starting pitchers in this series vs the Marlins and will need not just good at bats, but damage with runners on from Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter. The storyline of the year in my opinion has been the red-hot start from Colt Keith. Keith ranks in the 98% in baseball in exit velocity, and 96% in baseball in hard hit percentage. Keith has struggled out of the gate the past couple seasons and it is encouraging to see improvement from this young bat that will be in the Tigers lineup for years to come. If the Tigers can just get some more consistency on offense to lengthen the lineup, look for them to bounce back and take this home series from the Marlins.
